Taichung Harbor is located in Wuqi Dist., Taichung City. The former TCC was the Wuci Branch which was operated under Keelung Customhouse. For reasons, the government promoted developing of Taiwan Mid-West region to improve the shortage of berths in both Keelung and Kaohsiung Harbor, the burden of ground traffic in north/southbound and made importation to and exportation from Mid-West region more convenient, the construction of Taichung Harbor began in 1973, the first stage of construction was completed at Oct. 31, 1976. As an international harbor, Taichung Harbor and Taichung Customhouse were established and put in services simultaneously. Former Taichung Warehouse Transshipment Special Zone Branch (TCTB) and Taichung Post Office Branch under Taipei Customhouse were shifted to Taichung Customhouse. TCCO became the formal title since the organizational reform at Feb. 03, 1991. Due to the organizational reform of the Executive Yuan, the formal title was renamed Taichung Customs since Jan. 01, 2013.
